The Nagasaki Hata

 

2 hour workshop - suitable for Intermediate/High School students and adults.

 

This kite design is a simple version of a fighting kite that originates from Nagasaki in Japan.  Peter Lynn - an internationally renowned New Zealand  kite maker - developed this as a workshop kite in the 1980's and very generously shared it with me. I have been making this in workshops ever since. It flies well and can be used without a tail as a fighting kite.
